The Dean of Students’ Office is headed by the Dean of students assisted by a Deputy Dean of students. The Dean’s office has a number of sections namely: Catering, Security, Health Unit and Security. All these are headed by section heads all of whom are members of the Management team.
The Dean’s office deals with students’ welfare. The activities in the office include organizing students’ governance where students elect their own council leaders referred to as a cabinet which is headed by a president.
Sports and Games are also organized through the Dean’s office. The college has been able to raise very strong teams that qualify up to the National levels. Clubs and Societies like YCS, Seventh Day Adventist and Christian Union are very active. Music and Drama Club has been able to participate up to the National level and brought back many certificates and trophies. Through the various clubs, our students have gone for various trips, Excursions and competitions that help expose them to the various challenges that they might encounter once they graduate from college.
The Dean’s office ensures that new students are fully oriented and integrated into the new system upon admission into the Institute. This is done through orientation meeting.
To ensure that the students’ leaders who also include class representatives and Clubs/Associations Chairpersons have the right leadership skills, the Dean’s office through the sponsorship of the school and students’ governance organize leadership training. This trip takes place once a year where external facilitators and counselors train students on quality leadership.
The office also assists external clients who wish to hire KIST facilities like halls for seminars and conferences and grounds for weddings. The office wishes to thank our annual visitors like the Mothers Union, Jehovah Witnesses and the Kiambu County Professionals.
