Welcome to KIST

Welcome To Kiambu Institute of Science & Technology

KIST - Kiambu Institute of Science and Technology (KIST) is a non-Denominational Technical Industrial, Vocational & Entrepreneurship Training (TIVET) Institute under the Ministry of Higher Education Science and Technology. Its 14 kilometres from the City of Nairobi. 

It was built through Harambee effort by the local people and some generous donations from two Protestant church organizations I.C.C.O. of Netherlands and E.Z.E. of Germany.

KIST offers skill-based training which is in tandem with the goal of creation of employment and generation of wealth through Science Technology and Innovations.

Kiambu Institute of Science & Technology employs a number of staff whose main duties fall within KIST various departments. These departments are:

KIST Library

Books are the major component of the library. Periodicals and journals including the daily newspapers keep the library users abreast with current information. 
The Library staff are qualified and quite competent. They ensure that the library information materials are accessible in order to save the users’time. Peaceful co-existence is highly regarded in the library in order to encourage knowledge empowerment through the utilization of library information materials

KIST Red Cross

A library is organized for use and maintained by a public body, an institution, a corporation, or a private individual. Public and institutional collections and services may be intended for use 
themselves, who need material no individual can reasonably be expected to have, or who require professional assistance with their research. In addition to providing materials, libraries also provide the services of librarians who are experts at finding and organizing information and at interpreting information needs. Libraries often provide quiet areas for studying, and they also often offer common areas to facilitate group study and collaboration.

KIST Robotics Club

This is a club in KIST that deals with technology and robotics innovation.
Robotics is a branch of technology that deals with the design, contraction, operation and application of robots as well as computer systems for their control, sensory feedback and information processing.It was started with an intention of nurturing student’s talent and innovation creativity. The club has been participating in various contests up to national level in different parts of the country. This club ensures that the knowledge from different departments are consolidate with the purpose of performance excelling.

KIST Sports

Available Sports and games at the institute.

We offer a number of sports and games at the institute, regional and national levels. These sports / games include;
Basketball, Rugby, Handball, Soccer, Volleyball, Table Tennis, Netball, Badminton, Chess, Scrabble, Darts, Tae-Kwon-Do, track and field athletics just to mention but a few. The main focus of this Department is to develop the culture of sports in the students that will keep them healthy and enable them discover their hidden talents.
